At my free consultation I was told I was an excellent candidate with a pupil size of 6mm. At my pre-op I was informed my pupil size was 7mm. The doctor didn't inform me of any additional risks that my larger pupil size may pose compared to the 6mm pupil size I was originally given. My doctor uses the Autonomous LADARVision laser and the LaserScan Lsx. He has chosen to use the LSX on my eyes. Can anyone tell me if they feel my doctor has chosen the correct laser? Also what is the deal with optical and treatment zone sizes? For best results should ones pupil size be equal to or less than the size of the optical zone or the treatment zone? My presciption is -1.25 and -1.87 and I have an astigmatism of less than 1. I was also diagnosed with dry eye so my doctor said he would insert punctal plugs the same day as my LASIK surgery and has prescribed Muro 128 5% three times a day until surgery. Thanks to anyone taking their time to help me out.

I am not a Doctor but I can tell you that my pupils are 7.5mm and I have excellent results. My Dr. used the Autonomous LADARvision equipment. I was much more nearsighted than you @ -10 and -11. As long as you have enough cornea thickness, it sounds like you should not worry about your pupil size.

Given your extremely low level of prescription, you really shouldn't have a problem with either laser. The risk of glare/haloes increases with prescription and pupil size. 7mm pupils really don't pose much risk especially in light of your prescription. I use the VISX S3 and the LADARvision and I would use the S3 for you case. Your doctor will use the laser he feels will give you the best results.

Good luck
