I had rk sugery in 1987 and it turned out great. But after 5 years my vision started to change. First the night vision left and then the rest became blurry as well. Will I be able to have the lasik surgery to improve my vision after the RK? I really hate wearing glasses and I can only wear contacts for a very short time.

Thank PMS

I performed thousands of RK's from 1980 through 1996. Most likely you have now become farsighted, meaning you are blurred for both far vision and close vision. This happens to some degree in at least 40% of RK patients and is called "progressive hyperopic shift." This can usually be repaired quite successfully with LASIK surgery. You are welcome to come in for a complimentary evaluation in our office at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. You can check our my credentials and information on how to book an appointment by visiting my web page at www.drsalz.com or you can call Donna at 323 653-3800
