I've been writing under the "Permanent Damage" thread. Anyway, I went to my doctor today, who said I have irregular astigmatism due to the DLK in my right eye. He said that if melting occurred, then it was very little. Is it possible to have normal vision after a small amount of corneal melting?

Yes it is possible to have good levels of vision after mild corneal melts. In general it is best to allow healing to occur before interceding in some way. Patients are often times anxious to "do something" when LASIK results are less than optimum. Resist the urge to pressure the doctor to act but instead wait until your body has been given a full opportunity to heal on its own. It is surprising at times how much better things can be after waiting. Once things have stabilized, ask your doctor what can be done if you are still unhappy with your vision.
