Just diagnosed with MILD TO MODERATE DLK!!!I recently posted a message about corneal Haze possbly not related to DLK because the opthalmogist who performed my surgery wasn't convinced it was DLK, just "excess inflammation" which caused the corneal haze. I am now at Day 6 Post op and have been on Pred Forte 1% every hour while awake for the last 5 days. Only now am I beginning to show SOME "slight improvement". Is it common for DLK to take this long to resolve after such HEAVY steroid use?? Also what is the risk of Glaucoma from such frequent, extensive use of Pred Forte? I have been noticing "floaties" in my field of vision, and have definite haze over my right field of vision. My doc won't check the pressure in my eyes because he fears damaging the flap. I am scared about long term consequences to my vision. Please, please if you can help me I would really appreciate it!!

Julianna, I also replied to your original note. I had corneal haze and a mild case of DLK. I don't think I mentioned the DLK in my first posting. My doctor treated me with the Pred Forte drops twice a day, for two weeks before it went away. Pred Forte can be used every hour, and two weeks of it is not unheard of. I would have to say your doctor knows what's best. The chance of getting glaucoma from using these drops for two weeks or so, is far, far less than the chance of DLK going wild, and ruining your vision permanently. I also was treated with MURO-128 5% saline drops for corneal swelling along with the haze. Have you confided your fears to your doctor? Do NOT think he's not concerned, as it sounds like he is, and doing what he thinks is best. You could always go to another Opthamologist and get an immediate second opinion, insurance WILL cover that.
