I had both eyes lasik 12/2000. Both were -9.50 and had astigmatism. One month later vision began to deteriorate. Dr. diagnosed Sands of Sahara. Prescribed prednisone drops. Vision became worse and Dr. said scar tissue was forming because I healed too fast and it isn't DLK. I have returned every few weeks and tried various drops with no improvement. My vision continued to become distorted. This week Dr. did another orbscan topography which indicated posterior float over 900. Now in addition to scar haze Dr says I have ectasia. Dr. says inoperable because of healing response. Probably irreversable because no drops have worked. And haze is still increasing. I'm extremely light sensitive and have lost depth perception.
Vision varies from dense lace interference to heavy wax paper obstruction, depending entirely on light situations I can no longer safely drive, read or see TV. I've fallen off side walk curbs and walked into posts. I need help ! What to do ???

Please contact me and I will link you up with a private support group ( currently 7 ectasia members). With the help of doctors, we are studying this complication. You will have access to articles and the stories of the other members. We have group e-mailings of information and the members of the group are very supportive.
