I have a mild case of DLK in my left eye and have been experiencing discomfort. It feels like my eye is drier than the right, which is perfectly lubricated it seems. I am wondering if DLK increases dry eye or if dry eye irriates DLK further. Or maybe the DLK is not the problem here but it's solely the dry eye that's causing discomfort. All I know is that my left eye is drier than the right and my vision is flucuating because of it. Anyone else experience this? THANKS!

The sensation of dry eyes can be caused by a disruption of the cornea, such as Diffuse Lamellar Keratitis (DLK). I assume you are being treated for the DLK with steroid eye drops. These can cause similar discomfort, although that is rather rare.

Report your difficulties to your doctor at your earliest convenience. DLK is a very serious complication that can be fully and successfully resolved with a regime of eye drops, however can caus permament damage if not properly treated. Don't guess or assume when you are dealing with DLK. Let your doctor make those decisions.

We have a detailed article about DLK on our website at http://www.USAEyes.org and click on | Complications | Prevention | DLK |

Hi Glenn thanks for the information. I had an apt on friday and it seems the DLK is now gone. My left eye had been feeling much better the past 24 hours. Thanks again.
