Hi!
I had LASIK done in India on 21 July 2000. My pre-op prescripition was
OD -3.25
OS -3.00, -0.5cyl 10axis
I am having blurry and double-vision since then. My left eye vision is more blurred and distorted for both distance and reading vision. Double vision is there in both eyes, and slightly worse with head-lights etc. at night (even triple images).
When I consulted a local ophthalmologist after returning to the US o Aug 8 (~2.5 weeks post-surgery), he told me that I have striae in both my flaps--more on the left eye than the right. I had increased astigmatism of about -1D (I forget the axis) in my left eye and am under-corrected in my right eye(post-op power is -1 D). The double vision in my left eye disappeared for the most part on using the lens machine. However some of it remained in the right eye even with refractive correction. He suggested that I undergo an enhancement in about 3 months time during which he will remove the striae in the flaps by irrigating and employing rollers.
My questions are:
1. Is the double vision in both my eyes due to flap striae?
2. Is the astigmatism in my left eye related to the striae or is it independent of it. How would one know whether to correct for the astigmatism using a LASIK enhancement? Wouldn't it be more reasonable to remove the striae first and wait before thinking of enhancement?
3. What would be a reasonable course of action? Also, could you please recommend any experts (Striae expert?) in the Albany, NY area or thereabouts for a second opinion?
4. I was wearing contact lenses intermittently (~6 hrs/day) for 15 days before the surgery--I was unaware that they should be off for at least a week. Could this have something to do with the striae?
Thanks a lot for your help.
