I am 9 days post op from lasik and my left eye is not very clear (20/40). My doctor sees more striae in that eye. How does one determine whether my blurriness is caused by these wrinkles or is am I blurry because of an undercorrection? If I wait longer to see if there are any improvemnents, can the wrinkles be successfully and easily removed? Is waiting 3 months too long to get wrinkles out?
Thanks for your advice.
Diane
In general, wrinkles in the flap should be treated sooner rather than later. This is done be lifting up the flap, irrigating under the flap and then replacing it try to smooth out the wrinkles. Some very minor wrinkles do not need to be treated. Only your doctor can tell you whether your blurred vision is due to undercorrection or flap wrinkles. If it is the latter, I would not wait three months. The sooner the better. While not commonly needed, I will lift the flap the day after surgery if significant wrinkles are noted. Good luck and let us know how things turn out for you.

Thank you for reponding to my question. I am now 3 weeks post op and it was determined that my blurry vision was due to wrinkles in the flap of my left eye. They were successfully removed 2 days ago and my vision wwent from 20/35 to 20/20. I must say that the procedure of lifting the flap and flattening it repeatedly was not a whole lot of fun but it was worth it. If the wrinkles were left, my vision may have been impaired for the rest of my life. I thank my doctor who knew what to do. My suggestion to anyone who has striae is, have them removed before it's too late. Obvioiusly, 3 weeks was not too late.
