Iam going to see Dr. Whitten in Bethesda, MD I have heard that he is the best in the area and worth the cost. Has anyone heard anything about him or had LASIK done by him? Thanks !

Hi Patrick. I just had LASIK performed by Dr. Whitten, and I'm very pleased with the results so far. He also successfully treated a friend of mine a year or so ago, who had every complication you can imagine but turned out with very good results.
All that said, this isn't a practice for everyone. It's a high volume setting, and you don't meet Dr. Whitten until a few minutes before you go in. That said, let's face it--the front line in most health care consists of RNs, technicians, and other non-MDs, and the Whitten staff is great.
Bottom line--I've been really happy so far, but be sure you understand how this practice is different from others. If you want more personalized attention, Dr. Friedman may also be a good choice.
