Can anyone recommend a surgeon in Austin, TX who has long-term experience with LASIK?

I'm also interested in opinions about Austin surgeons. Please share your experience if you had LASIK in Austin.

In response to those who are looking for experienced LASIK surgeons in Austin...
I had my LASIK done last year at Texan Eye Care and am very satisfied with my results. I do experience less than perfect vision in low light situations and in flourescent lighting. These seem to be common side effects of LASIK, but each person has to judge for themselves what they are able to live with. Go to their website: for more information on doctor's experience, etc. Good luck with your search.

I was looking at Texan Eye Care myself. Does
anyone know anything about Dr. Steven Dell?
I've heard several people say good things about
Dr. Shawn Wong and he's very experienced (done about 6000 or so).

I guess all the Austin LASIK patients spend their time out on the hike and bike trail instead of in this bulletin board... Go figure...

You can always go to Canada (It's probably only a 3 or 4 day drive from Texas), since there appears to be no good surgeons in Texas. Sorry, I couldn't resist given the great response you have received and based on the great discussions about Canada versus the US.

True, I could drive to Canada... but DAMN! it's cold up there! Cold here is 40 degrees ABOVE zero.
I was in Montreal in February once... Parts of me have not warmed up since...
Seriously, I would consider it, but I want the doctor to be local in case of problems. There are 10 or so places that do LASIK here, plus some that come up here from Houston. I was just hoping to hear some good (or bad) about some of them...
Next time I go to Canada, I want it to be summertime with fishing pole in one hand and Molson in the other...

Thanks for the comic relief, guys.
As they say, "laughter is the best medicine."
It certainly is a big advantage to stay local, and I'm sure there are good docs in your area.
Speaking of cold....I grew up in Michigan, and get a kick out of the local Hawaiians who freak out when it hits 65 degrees. Whoa, two blanket night!
Good luck, Dean Hu
