I have been reading and deciding on a doctor for this for myself..Anyone have results with a Dr. Pardos or Dr. Spivack in Denver..? I must drive about 5 hours for this but they only have a portable laser that comes over where I live once a month or so and I dont feel comfortable with the portable ones on wheels. I was most comfortable until I read this BB and now..EEK it seems that there is much troubles with dryness and even ending up with worse correction..encluding the night vision halos..I sure do hope this is not common. My eyes are now a little dry but to no irritation to me. And I already cant see well at night..it makes me nuts to do so. I am..

Sphere Cylinder axis ADD +2.25 (progressive)

od -2.25 +1.50 175
os -1.50 +0.75 020

I use a computer most all of the time and do close up work from my screen, 12 to 18" away, am so worried now that I wont even be getting correction for that. I must use the large icons to see comfortably. And I read that so many still need glasses for certain things..this is why I would be having the surgery..to not need them. Although it seems now that I cant see with my glasses and I cant see without them.. Not a good one for contacts hard or soft either. The writing on bottles..forget it no way I can read it.
Question..anyone hear anything pro or con about Dr. Pardos or Spivack from Denver..? and anyone know of my rx and the corrections..? suggestions..most appreciated? Thank you for your time.

Debbie, I too am considering the LASIK procedure and was given Dr. Pardos' name by my optometrist in Frisco. I believe he used to work with one of the TLC Laser Eye Centers in Denver, but went out on his own with Colorado Laser Surgeons. I found this on the web: http://www.coloradolasersurgeons.com/gpweb.html
It appears he has done some celebrity surgeries,
e.g., Amy Van Dyken the Olympic swimmer. If you find out anything else, let me know.

Hi Debbie, I'm just a post refractive patient, but it sounds like you need to do more research before surgery - given your prescription and your add power and your life-style. Be sure to talk with your surgeon about near and mid-range vision (or loss thereof). I would also recommend trying various artificial tears to be sure you are NOT allergic to any of them before surgery, and be sure to find out if you do have dry eyes...they may not seem dry to you as you have no other eyes to compare them to. Also ask about dry eyes and age - they are dryer as we are older. I wish I had done more research before my PRK...you can always delay your decision a while...If you cannot see out of your glasses, try a different optometrist (I have had about 12 refractions in the past year to get an accurate glasses prescription and every single one of them has been different - and by as much as a whole diopter.) God Bless -
