Hi. I just turned 40. I had zyoptix correction in India in Jan. 2006 on my left eye (Non dominant eye).
Pre op power -1.75
Post op vision 20/20.
My right eye power is -1. No astigmatism.
No major problem with distant vision, though it is better with glasses.
I have trouble reading now (blurred). The vision improves considerably if I use glasses (plano left eye and -1 on right side). So I am using glasses about 100% of time.
I think I have plenty of accomodation left but I can't effectively use it since my dominant myopic right eye is trying to focus when I read.
Should I correct my Right eye with Lasik or wait to see if the vision will get better with time? (Sort of switching the dominance to left eye)
Please reply.

did you test out monovision with contacts before making it permanent with lasik? If not, that was a bad choice on your part. At your age, you would start needing reading glasses if you got lasik. Many people assume lasik will give them good vision at all distances but lasik does NOT cure presbyopia. They see fine before lasik because they were nearsighted. Lasik will set your eyes for distance but youll lose your ability to see well from near because your no longer nearsighted/myopic.
You have several options at this point. One is to laser your -1 eye and trade up distance glasses for reading glasses. Second option is make the plano eye back into myopia and leave the virgin eye alone. This will bring you back to square one but at least one eye will be left untouched. Youll regain your ability to see from near and only need distance glasses for driving or watching movies. Your third option is leave things alone and get used to the monovision you cant tolerate(yet)
any questions, let me know.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have used glasses all along. I am going to try without any glasses both for distance and reading. In the last 24 hours I am able to read little better without glasses. If can't get used to it, then I have to think bout option 1 or 2.

Good luck getting used to monovision, hopefully you can tolerate it and then lasik wont become a waste. If you have to resort to option 1 or option 2, youll be back in glasses. Do you use your eyes for near more than distance? If so, lasik your plano eye back into myopia, make it a -1 to match your virgin -1 eye and balance them.
If distance vision is what matters most and you hate monovision, you can laser your -1 eye and go to reading glasses for everything nearby. Just curious, what made you decide lasik and were you aware of the risks and limitations?
