I had lasik almost a month ago. My right eye has been perfect since the surgery but I did suffer from some swelling in my left eye. I remember during the surgery feeling extra pressure on my left eye. This was the only thing I felt during the surgey. I remember the nurse saying something about the pressure in my left eye and it appeared that more pressure was added, and I'm assuming this is why I felt something. Could this extra pressure applied to my cornea have caused the swelling that I have had. When I went for a follow up apt last friday the optomitrist said I had some minor water swelling. What is that? It has caused some increased glare in my eye as well. My left eye is feeling better every day but I'm curious why I had above average swelling and most people I've talked to did not.

Hi,
I had the same problem with my surgery, my right eye went great, when they did my left eye they could not get the suction ring into my left eye which cause my left eye to have red blood shot. The red blood shot disappear slowly now. But I do notice that my left eye is more blurry now then the day after surgery. Do you have the same symtom that I have?

I had the same thing happen on my left eye. It actually left a bit of a bruise along my orbital bone. Strangely enough, that eye was my dominant eye and is now the weaker eye (not by much so it isn't a problem), also my dry eye in that eye is way worse than the other eye. Don't know if this is a coincidence or if maybe the greater suction on that eye caused more damage. I had read a study saying that they felt the suction during Intralase caused greater damage to the Goblet cells that produce the mucin layer of the tear layer. That makes me think that may be why my dry eye is worse in that eye. The study also said it should heal itself, but could take a year.

My left eye was damaged by the suction ring as well. Right eye came out much better and did not need enhancement like the left. The bones around my left eye also were sore for 8 months.
