is it advisable to go for enhancement if i'm 8-9 mths post op and still having glare, haloes and starbursts, and not forgetting dry eyes if its due to large pupils and a small ablation zone for the first time?
will my dry eyes get worst?
and which is a better machine the wavelight allegretto or the nidek ec5000

I had enhancement after plus 10 months. It helped me read street signs and gave me more comfort in the eye but did nothing for the bad night vision. Lights are still doubled and smeared. If it rains at night, I don't even try driving. It's like looking through saran wrap.
Did you do Intralase?

John,
For your enhancement, did they simply flip the flap over or did they cut the cornea again to create the flap?
Thanks,
Victor

Enhancement surgery, be it conventional or wavefront-guided, may improve your uncorrected vision, however every individuals circumstances are different. Where or not you would benefit needs to be determined with a comprehensive evaluation from a competent surgeon.
Night vision problems may be improved without surgery by using the eye drop Alphagan P to reduce the size of the pupil in low light environments. If the night vision problems are caused by refractive error, including astigmatism, then a pair of glasses may be all that is necessary.

if you reduce it by using that eyedrops
wouldn't the eye be not be able to focus well
coz the pupil contributes to the focusing of light

Victor,
They lifted the flap with a hand tool before I even went into the surgery room. It only took less than a minute to lift the flap loose and this was 9 months after initial surgery. That tells me that the flap was still pretty loose.
The good thing was that they did not have to use the suction ring. It is the ring device that seems to be causing all the eye damage.

I am considering an enhancement. It's five months post-surgery and one eye is slightly undercorrected. I am fearful of the idea of lifting up a flap that was intending to heal. The nurse said the flap would be jagged. How fast was it to relift it and are you ok now and pleased you had it done?

Gina,
The enhancement went 100 times easier than initial surgery and my eye felt better the day I walked out of the office from enhancement surgery. They told me the same thing about the "jagged edge". I had very little discomfort though compared to what I had been walking around with for 10 months. I'll always think there was something stuck under the flap during that ten months.
The lifting of the flap with the hand tool only took about a minute or less and they had numbed the eye pretty good so there wasn't any pain like initial surgery. Initial Intralase surgery hurt like Hell but I was determined not to move.

no i didn't do intralase
does it play a big part in dry eyes and the rest of the side effects?
anyway u still having probs with your eyes as in dry eyes or other problems?
i seem to have something stuck in the inner corner of my eye and no doc has been able to diagnose exactly what it is so far. its some sorta foreign body sensation and at times it gets so irritating that i have to keep blinking profusely or twitching my eye. i've seen quite a no. of docs for second opinions and so far i've not been receiving much help from the medications i have which are the FML steroid drops and Restasis. however i think the dry eyes has improved with increased tear production as the burning sensation coming from dry eyes has lessened. my doc said that i don't have to be on restasis forever and i could stop the applications once my eyes were producing enough tears? is that true?
