As of right now, I am 7-days post-custom wavefront lasik.

I have been diligent in protecting my eyes, aside from a light bump to my left eye last night by accident when my eye was closed.

I have been reading many different opinions as to the time frames when normal activities can be resumed.

What I'd like to know is when I can resume certain activities so I feel like I am living normally again.
For example:

When can I safely stick my face under the shower head again when I am showering? I used to wash my face every day by covering it in a facewash and sticking my face under the shower head and rubbing the soap off my face with my hands.

When I can I safely rub my eyes again? I am an allergy sufferer so rubbing my eyes has always been a daily activity for me. Some sites scare me into thinking I may never be able to rub my eyes again. I am a girl and I wear eye make up. I rub my eyes when I am washing my face to help get the eye make up off. I also rub my eyes when they are dry and when they are itchy. Of course I haven't been rubbing them at all after the lasik, but I would like to know if there will be a safe time when I can go back to rubbing them like before.

When can i safely apply pressure to my closed eyes? When I am laying down in bed, I have been paranoid not to let my eyes touch the pillow in any way. I would eventually like to go back to sleeping with half of my face in my pillow if i feel like it. I would also not like to feel paranoid every time my boyfriend accidentally bumps me in the eye (closed eye) with his shoulder or hand.. like a normal bump - I am not talking about a painful bump.

thanks to anybody with advice.

A call to your doctor's office will probably reveal that flooding your face with water with eyes closed and normal sleeping is going to be fine. We have a detailed article about Lasik flap healing at http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik-flap-heal.htm that will probably help you understand the process.

I also have bad allergies used to rub my eye much more than one sohuld. it is normal to be extra cautious when u first get the surgery. I wore the shiled while sleeping for an extra week (2 weeks total) becasue on the 3rd night after surgery i woke up with my finger rubbing my left eye and the sheilds on the floor. Its been 1 month now and the dr said i can do everything normal. I even rub my eye some, but i dont go crazy and i make sure my eye is closed. altohugh there is a rare chance of messing up the flap, i think it would be very very unlikely past the first few weeks after surgery.

Dont worry, the "nervousness" will go away soon and you will feel "normal" again
