I had lasik a year and half ago with optic nerve damage because of glaucoma. I experienced a smudge in my right eye which doesn't seem to be there with glasses. When I was wearing contact lenses before the lasik procedure, I remember seeing a smudge. My vision wasn't corrected completely so I need to still wear glasses now. My vision is -1.25 and -1.00. I'm considering getting an enhancement but a corneal specialist told me I should never have gotten lasik and I should have no more surgeries. I don't have any more opinions. I went to him because of the smudge in my eye after having lasik. I thought it was caused by the surgery at the time but I think it was there before the surgery; I just didn't notice it with my glasses which I wore most of the time. Someone told me on this board that if I had an enhancement within 2 years after the initial surgery, it wouldn't create any more pressure because they could just lift up the flap. Time is running out. I'm being fitted for contact lenses now and can't see to read without reading glasses but I think if I could see distance, I'd be satisfied. The question is, can I safely have an enhancement even though I have optic nerver damage. I just heard that if you're glaucoma was under control by drops, you could have lasik so that's what I told the lasik doctor at Lasik Vision Institute. Would appreciate a response from a doctor. Thank you.
