What is the effect of myopic LASEK correction on my near-sight? My doctor told me that it will not affect my near-sight, but I have reason to think otherwise.
During my pre-op consultation, my eyes were paralyzed with a solution to get my prescription without my eyes trying to correct my vision. At this time, I could only see at a distance of about 2.5 feet and only without glasses. I could not see this close with my vision corrected (with glasses).
My interpretation is that I focus with my eyes completely relaxed (or weakened, like when I am older) at a distance of about 2.5 feet. My inability to see up-close with glasses implies that correcting vision changes my "default" focus, and that I am only able to focus closer because of correction by my eye muscles, which may become less capable as I get older (mine were paralyzed).
So, being unable to see close-up with glasses when my eye is weakened makes me think that correcting my vision will effect my near-sight, either subtly now or maybe when I am older.
Am I correct? What are your interpretations and opinions?
Thanks!
