I had monovision Lasik surgery 8 months ago and have some difficulties. I realize I am not an ideal candidate due to my various outdoor activities, primarily golf. My optomotrist fit me with a contact lens that helps but defeats the purpose of monovision.
Since my eyes are light sensitive and I normally wear sunglasses anyway, can I expect similar results from one eye corrected sunglasses? Any complications? How about one eye corrected reading glasses?
Also I have been told that wrap style sunglasses cause problems. Is that true for non prescription sunglasses as well as prescription?
Thanks for the info

I am in un-intentional mono-vision (Sort of) I had surgery on non-dominant eye first - problems kept me from "doing" other eye. I am -.25 and -1.50 respectively. My goal is to be able to go around without correction, but wear distance glasses when I need to really see evenly..so I am similar to your mono-vision. I have been like this for 3 months, and it was HORRIBLE at first to adjust to the "naked" mon-vision eyes. Headaches...brain strain...eye straint etc. Finally, my eyes have adjusted (sort of) I then had glasses made to equal up the distance vision. This was HORRIBLE at first too! I think you can do it if you spend enough time in all the visions that you want. Then your brain will eventually recognize the vision as you slip on or remove glasses - whether they be reading or distance. I would first try the distance sunglasses as you desired. However, I have noticed that I see much better out of my clear distance glasses than my distance sunglasses...Light = better vision. Experiment with the lens tint as well and polarization - also frame style does make a difference - again I like my clear glasses better and I think it has to do with frame style. I did experience lots of eye pulling (even at night asleep - I think they were complaining to me!) Before my surgery, I would spend equal amounts of time in corretive sunglasses, clear glasses, and my naked eyes - my brain accepted all these visions. A friend of mine in mono-vision wears full distance glasses only occasionally and she said she feels her eye pull when she does this. I think if you experience the vision often enough you will adjust. GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!
