I am 2 months post op and not at all adjusting to the monovision my dr. convinced me I would love. I have had input from other lasik patients that if I enhance my undercorrected left eye I have to be careful the dr. does not overcorrect me. Is there something the dr. can do to safeguard that this would not happen?? What are the chances of overcorrection occuring? I have had huge fluctuations in my sight in the undercorrected eye and and none in my eye where the outcome was 20/20. Could this mean I also may have huge flucuations if the dr. enhances my left eye to 20/20. I have one month to decide to leave my eyes this way or enhance and am a little confused. This is a major decision that could affect my vision for life. Some one who had mono lasik said he was sorry he did it because as we age vision will change anyway creating the need for reading glasses but if I leave my eyes imbalanced I will have to tolerate the bluriness on my left side forever. Thanks for any help or insight you can give.

If you're not happy with your situation, then you should do something about it. Hopefully your doctor is comfortable with enhancements. I personally find tem to be of lower overall risk than the original procedure since the flap is already there.
Also, the risk of significant overcorrection (meaning overcorrection that will affect your vision) should be very low since the remaining prescription left to correct should be rather low at this point.
Good Luck, Dean Hu

I am tracking about one month behind you. I opted for monovision, too. I have an abrasion that is healing in one eye, and am at about 20/100...ugh....in the monovision eye so in the meantime I have glasses plopped on my face every minute of the day. The dust has not settled yet, so I do not know how the numbers will eventually shake out. I will most likely need an enhancement on at least one eye. This is all to say that if you want some support, my e-mail address is:

In defense of monovision, my left eye is about 20/100 (very distorted) & my right lasiked eye is 20-20. My left eye doesn't bother the right in distance, & the right doesn't bother the left in reading very small print. The brain is supposed to train itself on which eye to use; maybe mine was just faster at adapting. I love it. Maybe you should give yourself a little more time.
