I have had monovision since becoming presbyotic about 12 years ago. The correction was achieved with one contact lens. Three years ago I began using a second lens to assist with my distance vision. Prior to Lasik my correction was +3.5 in my right eye and +1.50 in the left. I underwent Lasik on June 1. My close vision improved instantly, however, I am now extremely nearsighted. My doctor told me that the overcorrection in both eyes was deliberate and that the surgery is perfect. Because I could not see well enough to drive, he gave me an RX for glasses -1.75 (left) and plano (right). It has been almost 4 weeks and I cannot see sharply beyond about three feet. My doctor insists that my left eye will regress to zero and my right eye will become less nearsighted requiring a bit more distance for close focus. I know that most of the Lasik experience has been with correcting myopia and those results are pretty immediate. Is my situation unusual and can I hope for mid and distance vision as good as I had with my contacts?

Usually your less-dominant eye is your "reading/close-up eye" & your dominant one is corrected for distance. My left eye was untouched for close-up, computer distance & my right was corrected to 20-20 for distance. It works very well for me.
