Hello. I got my Lasik done two days ago on Friday. No problems so far with the healing.

I was told Monovision was a good option because of my age (45). However now I think I made a mistake and should have gotten both eyes corrected for good distance vision.

I'd be willing to wear reading glasses if necessary. This will still be a big improvement from before the surgery, when I needed glasses both for reading and distance, as my myopia was 6.5 and 8, with extreme astigmitism too.

I'm very happy with my distance vision in my fully corrected eye but the discrepancy in my eyes is driving me crazy and I don't think I will ever like this. I'm almost tempted to go get glasses for the undercorrected eye so my vision from both eyes will again be equal.

Any idea how long until I can get the enhancement to make the undecorrected eye twenty-twenty?
Thanks,

Barry

Well I now have the answer to my own question. Three months is the recommended, minimum time for an enhancement. But the earliest I could schedule it was 05/15/02, four months after my initial surgery.

I believe that I would not have chosen monovision if I had been given contacts to try it out. But such is life, I will not complain and will hope for the best with my enhancement surgery to bring both of my eyes to full distance vision.

Actually my left eye is now 20/15 and my right eye is 20/40. The disparity between my eyes is what has bothered me since one day after the surgery.

...to work for you. I did not like it at first, and my eyes had trouble working together and I had headaches for about 4-6 weeks, but it is fine now. Be sure the doctor did your dominant eye for distance. Also be sure the dioptric difference between the left and right is 2.00 diopters or less, or the effect of anisometropia will be noticed. That may be whta you're experiencing now; often, surgeons will under/overcorrect with the expecation of some regression to the target refraction. This may take a few weeks or months to settle in.

With the onset of presbyopia, the monovision will pay big dividends.

I had my eyes corrected for monovision just under a year ago. My distance eye had regressed and I needed to wear reading glasses for small print. I decided to have both eyes fixed for distance. I am so sorry that I did. Close vision is now 3 or 4 feet away from me. I wish that I could go back to what it was.
