Ectasia and eye pressure drugs
I was diagnosed in 2008 with cornea ectasia after lasik. I had my eye treated with cross linking in the initial trials but we could not find a contact that would help with vision without scratching the cornea so the right eye was not treated yet. But during the follow up my eye pressure went up to 25 in the right eye and 19 in the left eye and then I was prescribed Timolol gfs.I have noticed that after using this drug for a period of time that my best vision goes from 20/20 in the right eye down to 20/50. I am waiting on a mini scleral lens for the left eye and hopefully I can still get my right eye cross linked but I was wondering if there are any eye drops that lower eye pressure in the xalatan class that don't change blue eyes to brown? I was also curious to which doctors are still doing c3r trials so I can get my right eye treated. Thanks

First - I notice that you may be from the Maryland area. Roy Rubinfeld in Chevy Chase, MD, is performing crosslinking.
In regards to IOP lowering - there are numerous agents to try. Alphagan, Azopt, and Trusopt are all twice a day medications that work well with a low rate of side effects. All agents in the Xalatan class can potentially cause a change in the color of your iris - although in my experience this has been rare. I hope this helps Bill Trattler, MD
