After performing his undergraduate work at University of Kentucky and Marshall University on Academic Scholarship, James Rynerson, MD earned his medical degree form University of Louisville. While there, he was awarded the prestigious Thomas B. Calhoun Award for academic excellence. He then performed his ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University where he was chief resident during his final year of training. His refractive surgery training which began during his residency now includes being a VISX-certified refractive surgeon skilled in the correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. He is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He has performed thousands of eye surgeries and hundreds of Lasik procedures but still takes a personal approach to insure that his patients achieve the finest outcomes possible.
