Presbyopia (the need for reading glasses after LASIK)
LASIK does not change the aging process and the eventual need for reading glasses; this is one of mother nature's gift to all of us!; If you currently wear reading glasses, you will need them after LASIK surgery. If you currently do not wear reading glasses and can read with your current distance glasses, it is unlikely that you will need reading glasses until the usual age for such an event; if you currently cannot read well with your distance glasses and take your glasses off in order to read, you will need reading glasses to read after LASIK and will no longer be able to read without reading glasses; your ophthalmologist can assist you in determining your specific needs based on your age and prescription.
