I had a LASIK re-enhancement two weeks ago and in my first follow up visit a day after the surgery, the Dr. saw what she thought looked like mucin in my left eye. She raised the issue that it could be epithelial ingrowth, but she wanted to take a wait-and-see approach. In these last 4 days, the vision in my left eye has blurred. The vision in my right eye, however, is great. But I went in this morning and she said that the problem in the left, is in fact, epithelial ingrowth. We're going to go ahead and remove it in the left eye this Wednesday. I'm trying to remain calm and rational about this, but I'm a bit panicky. I trust my Dr. completely and she said she is not worried at all about the procedure, but could this cause blindness? Will my left eye be blurry forever? Will epithelial ingrowth always come back? I'm ridiculously worried about this....
Thanks

Hi Beth,
I had my eyes done January 5th. I had problems in my right eye ever since. First it was inflammation, then debris then finally epithelial cells.
Last week they lifted the flap and scraped them out. The next day I was fine. Yesterday at my 1-week follow up they are back! I am very distraught as I've researched this topic and it must be treated if they don't go away on their own. Hopefully for the both of us it will just clear up. Otherwise I feel that every time you undergo the procedure you put yourself at risk.
Good luck.
