I had my lasik procedure last September by a very prominent doctor in New Jersey. My left eye is fine but my vision in my rt. eye is distorted because, the cornea is not flat. The flap was already floated once but it did not improve my vision. I was told that this new procedure is coming called Custom Cornea and it should be able to remedy my problem. Has anyone heard of Custom Cornea? And how long should I expect to wait before this new technology is here?

We have been waiting for custom ablation for quite some time. The last I heard is that it may be available by the end of this year. Of course, that's what I was told one year ago about the year end of '99. Custom ablation involves taking a picture of the cornea with topography and the laser removes tissue in only those areas where it is needed. It should offer some relief for those with irregular astigmatism. Don't hold your breath but it should be sometime soon. Good luck.
