I had LASIK done 11-16-00. I am 36years old. The right eye did fine but the left the MD said the epithilium didn't go back smoothly. Like carpet that isn't glued down. Anyway they immediately put a contact in that stayed in until 11-20-00. I was taking PRED forte every 2 hours now every 4. I can see 20/20 out of the right but 20/70 out of the Left. it was worse after the contact was removed they say this is from the swelling. they say the vision will be fine within 1-2 weeks. Is this true? I am scared and worried. Please give me some advice. The MD said this happens 1in 100 cases and nothing to be concerned about? I am about to week one (tomorrow) and I don't think it is any better. Help. Thanks for a response. Judy

It sounds like you are describing a corneal abrasion with diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK) - but of course I can not be sure Please ask your doctor to write down your condition so you can read about it and also ask questions. I will be happy to provide some information once I know what it is.
Best of luck

I had same encounter as you except it is on my left eye. The doc said my flap is too thin and he put a contact lens for me to wear for 1 week. Then when the lens was removed, he told me I should be able to see in 1 week time after the swelling has gone down. It has since 3 weeks and I have not regain my vision, except getting worse.
Doc then said some irregularites has occurred under the flap, and enhancement is required.
I am puzzled if the thin flap cut during surgery is due to low myopia degree (as told by doc) or it is a result of suction loss during surgery...
