What are the statistics on Lasik causing posterior vitreous detachment? I'm 9 months post op and am having difficulty with my vision due to a floater clump in front of my macula in both eyes. The debris is presumably from the detachment. Doc tells me that it will eventually probably work it's way out and not impair my vision. How long should I wait before examining other options and what options are advised?

I am not aware of any statistics with floaters, as floaters themselves generally move out of the visual axis with time. By the time people reach age 70, basicallu everyone has a floater. Floaters occur by age group, so as people age, the chance of having a floater increases. AS well, people who are near-sighted are at higher risk of having a floater.
Floaters are important in that when they first occur, there is a 1% chance of having an associated retinal hole or tear. So people with a new onset of a floater need a dilated retinal exam to look for peripheral retinal holes.
There are no accepted treatments for floaters, becuase the risks of treatments are considered higher than the benefits (since the floaters generally fade with time). You can certainly find websites that talk about laser treatments for floaters, but please be careful, since there are risks with this type of procedure.

I hope this helps
