My girlfriend had lasik laser eye surgery last wednesday on her right eye, the eye was -9.5 before the operation.
After the operation she went back for her 24 hour post op exam, in this the doctor examined her eye and stated the following;
1. Her flap was wrinkled.
2. Her cornea is now so thin after the operation that it may collapse / disintegrate at any time (today / tmrw / next month / next year)and she may go blind.
3. The doctor would not try to smooth out the wrinkles as he was worried about the cornea.
Due to the thiness of the remaining cornea the doctor will not operate on her left eye.
Does the above sound possible or has the doctor made serious errors (either before, during or after the operation).
Currently her eyesight is blurry in her right eye and she is in great pain.
She cannot wear her glasses, she is forced to wear contact lenses in her left eye for 16 hours a day which is very bad for her left eye.
Her doctor gave her no advice on how to cope going forward and I am finding it difficult getting any other information.
If any of you could give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot to mention my girlfriend has Wavefront laser surgery.
Would really appreciate some advice as we are really worried about what to do next.
She has her one week exam in 1 day so could do with a list fo questions to ask the doctor at that stage.

I'm very sorry to hear about the problems your girlfriend is having. It is terrifying to be in this situation. I would highly recommend seeking out a good opthomologist in your area for a second opinion as soon as possible. After finding out I had a Lasik complication (DLK), it was the best thing that I ever did and best money spent for the input. I'm not sure where you are in California, but you could also see if there is a university hospital nearby. Also, I'm wondering why she is wearing a contact in this situation due to the possibility of further damage and infection. I'll keep her in my prayers...
