My prescription is as follows:
OD:
Sphere:-2.50
Cylinder: -5.25
Axis: 178
OS:
Sphere: -2.50
Cylinder: -6.50
Axis: 173
With this prescription, would I be a good candidate for Lasik?
thank you

Your astigmastim is to high to be fully corrected, but it can be reduced. Youll see better with and without glasses.

Is your astigmatism progressing? Such a high astigmatism that is progressing may be a sign of keratoconus, which is a progressive disease of the eye that causes the cornea to become weak and bulge outward.
An ophthalmologist with an Orbscan and/or Pentacam can evaluate your cornea closely and determine if you have keratoconus.
You may want to read http://www.usaeyes.org/faq/subjects/keratoconus.htm
You would not be an ideal candidate for Lasik or any other refractive surgery technique, however it is possible for you to achieve full correction. Much will depend upon the exact nature of your situation and this can only be evaluated by a compentent doctor.

I do not recommend Lasik for such a high astigmatism. Your
treatment will be mostly oval and you would not be fully corrected
with a single treatment. This will place you at a high risk for
problems in low light particularly if you have large pupils.
Keratoconus is also a concern. I had a very high astigmatism and
ended up with a horrible result. If glasses or soft toric lenses do
not provide you with stable 20/20 vision I recommend that you
look into RGP lenses or possibly the new synergeyes
(synergeyes.com ) lenses before considering any type refractive
surgery.

I understand from your email that you had high astigmatism. Did you have treatment with wavefront guided laser - or did you have a conventional treatment? And which laser? Each laser treats the astigmatism differently, and a surgeon can potentially select a laser platform that would induce less issues for patients with high degrees of astigmatism.
I hope this helps
