Dr. Trattler I went for my 2nd month routine checkup as I couldn't see any signs of improvement and what I found after the checkup that my prescription is now -2.25 from -1.50 on Feb 14th so regression is going on but Astigmatism in left eye is gone whereas the right eye that was 1.0 is now 0.75 so numbers are decreasing as far as astigmatism is concern but the overall prescription is higher so my optometrist is saying maybe that's my number forever if I don't do enhancement and asked me to use glasses to see clearly. What do you think initially you advise me to wait for 6 months and I mentioned it to my optometrist but she said your number shouldn't be higher than the last month's evaluation if it would have stayed there or less than the number then there were some chances that you will be healed. What you suggest should I go with my glasses forever or in case if I use glasses or contacts and somehow my healing is going on will it effect my healing and eyesight. And what you think is she saying correct number shouldn't be higher than last month's prescription. Please reply Dr. I will really appreciate it.

Many surgeons recommending using anti-inflammatory eye drops like prednisone when patients are having regression - so please ask your surgeon about this option. As well - two studies have shown that the addition of restasis can help reduce the chance of regression. One study was by Marguerite McDonald, and the other was by David Schanzlin.
So ask your doctor about both - and also be patient - just because you are undercorrected today doesn't mean that your eye can't turn around. I have seen this happen plenty of times - especially with the use of steroids eye drops, restasis, and punctal plugs.

Best regards

Thanks Dr. Trattler. But what kind of steroid eye drops can you please name some so I can ask my Dr. and Retasis isn't that for dry eye which my optometrist was saying my eyes are not very dry. Should I request for it. Please recommend some and I will talk to my Dr. about it.

Saima, I am in Canada now and had my surgery in Pakistan at Akthar Eye Hospital. Although my Dr. gave me medicines for almost 6 weeks and this is what he predicted that I will be ok but unfortunately my vision is regressing. My prescription was around -8.75 and -5.75 with astigmatism is both eyes. Now after exact 12 weeks my prescription is -1.50 and -2.25 with still astigmatism 0.75.

I contacted my optometrist as per the advise of Dr. Trattler to prescribe Restasis or any other
anti inflammatory drops but he insists to use the lubricants only and told me that in Canada Restasis hasn't been started yet. I don't know but yesterday my dr. told me that vision fluctuation shows that your eyes are still healing and you need to wait for couple of months but start using glasses so your eyes can see better. I don't know how far your progress going please update yours so I can compare with mine.

Ali, i am sorry but i thought you will be in Pakistan. Anyways your doctor is right about that signs of healing process because my doctor also said that it will take almost 3 weeks for my eyes to heal completely. Myopia is not such a small thing dear and we both were suffering from relatively large minus numbers. So my advice is have patience and let the nature do its work. Keep yopur prescribed drops going and insha allah you will be fine. Dont panick.
I, myself has to leave pakistan on next wednesday so may be on my last expected visit to doctor in few days will let me know the exact position of my eyes. Till then, take care and drink pleanty of water as it really works.

My prescription was -11 in both eyes. I am 4 weeks post lasik now my eye sight is now -1.50 in both eyes a bit dry eyes but surely better than before. I am doing Mphil so i consider lasik as a blessing since i have only problem in night because street lights are a bit blurry to me. Day time vision is good i even dont use glasses or contacts even now. Pray that soon the night problem will be eliminated so that i can say that my lasik was completely successful. How do you feel now. I am using naturale tears but only thrice a day.
How are your eyes now. Do keep us update.
