Hi,
Im 35 from Vietnam. I've been seeking for an experienced LASIK surgeon. If you know some good, experienced surgeon in Thailand/Singapore/other countries in South East Asia, please advise their name, contacts and the name of the hospital where s/he has been currently practicing.
If youve experienced the epithelial ingrowth after LASIK or know of such, please share with me. What have most surgeons done to treat epithelial ingrowth that has developed to the extent of mine? Do they suggest re-laser treatment or surgical correction to remove the cells underneath the flap? What is the chance that the epithelial ingrowth recurs after the scrap? Should I wait for some more days/weeks if my current surgeon further advise so or should I need to switch to another surgeon for re-treatment/surgical correction immediately?
Your information/advice hence would be very helpful and appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Brief about LASIK complications that have occurred to my eyes and why I need the information.
The Epithelial ingrowth (the infiltrates of dead cell underneath the LASIK flap) occurred to my eyes one month after the LASIK as the surgeon said.
On March 9, 2006 I had LASIK operation in eye hospital in Vietnam. A day after LASIK complication occurred with the left eye flap, i.e. the flap wrinkled. The surgeon, as emergency cure, replaced with new contact lens and fixed the wrinkled left eye flap. A week after, my eyesight was 3/10 for the left eye and 7/10 for the right eye.
On March 23, I felt a bit strange with my left eye sight, every object seems to have shadow even in the room with high-light. I went to see the surgeon and he said the cornea had been infected due to non-surgical reason and I was asked to use new eye drop Naclof together with Sanlein 3 times per day.
On April 5, on a biz trip to South Vietnam, as I felt hazier and the shadow of every object had become larger than a week ago, I went to seek for the advice of some new surgeon. After a check, new surgeon said she saw the epithelial ingrowth. Though the flap has not yet completely smooth it was not the main reason that made the eyesight worse. She asked me to go back home to see my original surgeon immediately. My eye sight was 10/10 for both eyes on that day.
On April 10, after some check my surgeon recognized the same, i.e. epithelial ingrowth and gave me new eyedrop and asked me to try for another 2 weeks until April 24. At that stage, I has been using Sanlein (for one month), Naclof (for 17 days) and started with Maxitrol. He said that the ingrowth might no longer develop at some stage and he would not interfere (with surgery) unless it is critical. Compared with my eyesight 13 days ago, today, April 23, it has been worse. Halos, haze and, in low-light place, double vision has occurred, the shade has become so large, and things look hazy.
