Hi,
During past three months, I have been spending worst time because of my wrong decision-having lasik surgery. one week after lasik surgery, I had inflammation which doctor didn't specify what kind of inflammation it was and epithelial ingrowth which doctor had to remove urgently.Unfortunately that removal wasn't enough, some still left and I had to undergo another surgery on the following week.In total, three times of flap lifting up for the right eye and two for the left. To make matters worse, I developed DLK that ended up leaving haze in my eye.
It has passed 8 weeks since last lifting up, still doctor is not sure whether epi-cell is recurring because of haze underneath cornea flap.
I know the more flap lifted, the more likely epithelial ingrwoth is coming back!!!! I am so depressed about the thought that this epi-disaster seems like never ending.
Is there any method that prevent epithelial ingrowth ?? Do I really have to lie down on the surgical bed over and over again?

I had my first relift for the same ingrowth problem 2 weeks ago. I had 20/20 vision in my left eye a week after procedure. Over night it went terrible and I was rushed in for a relift. Two weeks now and it still has not returned anywhere near prior acuity. I just found I have the same affliction in my right eye, just not as severe... yet. It is the worst feeling I have ever experienced laying on that table for 10 minutes with my flap wide open and Doc rubbing my cornea with some kind of gauze. I sympathize with you whole-heartedly. The only simularity to both ingrowth ocurrances is that I did not shower before bed, I only washed my face in the sink those nights. My doctor now tells me that he has never seen this problem with any prior Intralase patients. He has also taken me off the Prednizone steroid, as he thinks I may be allergic.. Took him a month to figure that out. If they gave me a smock I could work there, I am in the office often enough.. as you too, most likely, I just wish I didnt live 100 miles from it. I wish you luck.. and I hope for a cure for Lasik.
