Hello, I have a two part question,
My retina was detached a couple of years ago due to, what I was told, bad vision (-10 left, -9 right). My first question is: could the cause of my retina detachement in my right eye be due to having my pupils dialated during a normal contact lense check up? During that time I, have not had my pupils dialated in about 3 years. When I went in, the Optometrist dialated my pupils. After the check-up, I left the office, though notice the sunlight that day, was very bright and I had to shield my eyes. This happened on a Thursday afternoon. Saturday morning, I woke up and noticed that my right eye was covered with a greyish film like substance. It did not hurt, though went back to the Optometrist and she could not figure out what it was. She mentioned collagen or something and said it will go away. Needless to say it didn't and Sunday morning I went into emergency and they diagnosed my retina was detached and had to operate quickly. So my question here is could the dialation and bright sunlight after the check-up be the cause of my retina being detached?
Second question is that: since my retina is re-attached (half sclara buckle) can I have lasik or wave-lasik proceedure done? It has been close to 3 years since. Thanks for your response.
