I'm having real eye problems and I don't know what to do. When I wear glasses and contacts my eyes hurt to the point that I can't wear them anymore, I mean serious pain, but my vision is very bad. So bad that I can't see people talking to me and they are right in front of me. I also have floaters. Many of them. They are increasing in size and quaunity. What alarms me most is not that there is hundreds of transperant floaters which consists of specks, dots, strings, and waves that are making rotations in my eyes, but the big dark growing floater in my right eye.
I've been to the doctor many times over a year span. They keep telling me nothing is wrong, they don't see anything. I try to change up my doctors as to get a second opinion and they have told me the same thing. I have also changed my glasses, nothing. Bought glasses from a different location, nothing. Bought contacts from somewhere else, all still producing pain. I've been trying to figure my problems out myself, but I'm not having much luck. I go to work and everythings a blur. I'm barely getting by and I'm barely able to work anymore because I can't see. I've considered lasik but am not sure about that because I have not come to a conclusion about what is currently happening.
If anybody knows anything that might help or know people who have had the similar symptoms, your help would be very much apriciated.

If contacts and glasses hurt your eyes, lasik may do the same and because its permaent, youll be in constant pain. Are you straining your eyes with glasses? I am going to guess you have high astigmastim and the disortions causes strain. Have you considered RGP contacts? whats your pescription?

I'm not sure what RGP is.
My contact perscrition is:
Left eye: -2.00 -.75 x 170
Right eye: -2.25 -.75 x 020
What do you think this means?

you wear toric contacts. Since your astigmastim is so mild, can you ask your optometrist to instead give you the spherical equivalent? Ask for -2.25 in the left and -2.5 in the right. This should be handed out as a free sample. I am thinking maybe you cant tolerate astigmastim correction. I couldnt either and have gotten glasses .25 diopters stronger but ignore my astigmastim and im much happier. My sister has astigmastim too but wears -2.75 contacts for spherical equivalent.
You may think your vision is "very bad" but its not. what you have is considered mild myopia. You want to know what "bad" is? I am -5 and -4.5 you can simulate this by trying on reading glasses and be amazed how much more blur there is.

Hi John,
It sounds like you have been doing this but please keep trying to go to another doctor until you get an answer. Do you see an Optomitrist or an Opthamologist? Have you even tried your family doctor? I am not a doctor or in the medical profession but I do know of people who have other diseases that can cause vision problems (i.e. MS for example). You may even want to see a neurologist because there are neurologic conditions that can impair sight. Again, I am not in the medical profession but just a suggestion.
Best of luck to you.
Julie
