I just moved to the Naperville, IL area and have been thinking of getting laser correction done on my eyes for a while now. My quests are as follows.
1) I moved here and heard radio adds for LasikPlus Vision centers and they offer great financing. Any feedback or comments on this company would be great as I am new to the are.
2) How to you make sure you don't get overcharged but at the same time make sure you are getting quality pricedure done. Are there questions to asks to make sure you compare apples to apples?? I have seen pricing from $400 and eye to 3k and eye and while I don't want to go for a bargain and risk my eyes, neither do I want to overpay just do to fear.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

As a general rule, $5000 for both eyes is a good price for good quality. Thats what lasik costs in south florida and in many other states.
However the more pressing issue is why do you want lasik? What are your reasons and expectations? Whats your pescription?

my presciption currently is -4.25 and -4.5 with a slight astigmatism ( not sure the number here but i use a toric lense). Mainly I am just trying to get away from the daily routine of putting in and taking out my contacts. I play a lot of sports also and would be happy to not have to deal with my glasses when resting my eyes from the contacts. I have considered Lasik for about 4 years and think I am rdy to move on and do it. I am hoping to get to the point where I can drive, watch tv and go about my daily routine without the need for contacts or glasses

I am assuming you can not tolerate contacts from the words you said. If you have no problem with contacts, stick with those and wait for lasik technology to keep improving. Otherwise it looks like you have done your research. Are you aware of all the risks, anything that can go wrong? Are you aware lasik reduces dependancy on glasses but does not always give you perfect, plano vision? If you have thin corneas and big pupils, you risk ectasia and poor night vision. Youll need reading glasses at 35-40 if you get fully corrected. One more thing, if you play alot of sports, consider PRK instead because the flap can get damaged in sports with lasik.

That is good information to know. I do participate in sports, mainly soccer, volleyball and skiing. The main problem I have been having lately with contacts is that by about 2/3 of the way through the day they are starting to irritate my eyes. I used to have a very bad habit of leaving them in for weeks at a time since my eyes are sensitive to the solution when I put them in even using the sensitive eyes solution. Even if i can get to 20/40 i would be very happy as i would be good to go for most everyday activities.
Is there a good spot to read up on the basics? like comparing the technologies what is the best and newest tech out there? I am having a hard time trying to compare apples to apples when looking at different surgeons.

Scott, see my post. I researched options to improve my vision for years before I decided to go to LasikPlus. The DR. has wonderful credentials. But see my results so far. I DO need to talk with the surgeon.. Getting excuses & being told not to worry is unacceptable. I am not a child. These are my EYES. My life. My job security... everything. Did you already have the procedure?

Don't get sucked into his little attention getting game. He likes to interview prospective patients on the net and before you know it you'll start to believe he knows something. He doesn't. He's a kid in his 20s supported by his parents who has not had any surgery or training in the area. He just needs the attention.
