I am 48 hours post surgery. When I woke up from napping after having lasik I noticed a red spot on the white part of my eye. Having looked closer I noticed several other small ones around both eyes. I was told these are normal and will go away in 3-4 weeks. anyone else get these? Why does this happen?

Hi! My sister-in-law had LASIK and I had PRK. She had red spots too. They are from the suction ring that was used when they make the flap. The pressure that the suction ring creates can break the blood vessels in the whites of your eyes - therefore the red spots. They're harmless.

I had two broken blood vessels in my eyes after my LASIK. They looked horrendous, but my surgeon told me they were harmless. They disappeared about 3 weeks after surgery. (I am 5 weeks out.)

Thanks guys. I noticed that mine are fading now and the steriod seems to help a bit. I remember feeling extra pressure in my left eye when the ring was placed on it so I am not surprised that it left a spot.
