Just thought I'd provide a ray of hope for those of you who wonder if no one is ever happy they did this.
I had CustomVue LASIK on January 5th of this year. I think my original scrip was something like -5.5 or -5.75, maybe one of each. My surgeon's only concerns were my slight dry eye problem - which had never bothered me in 15 years of contacts - and my larger than average pupils, but since neither were enough to disqualify me we went ahead with the surgery.
Everything went well; I had the usual discomfort once the numbing drops and Valium wore off but nothing a little Tylenol and sleep couldn't cure. My vision didn't seem all that crisp to me and at my one week follow up they said I still had a slight scrip but it was too early to do anything about it so we'd just wait and see. Over the next few months it never really go any better. Outside on a sunny day was pretty good but I still couldn't make out faces more than 5 feet away, inside was pretty bad, and nighttime was horrid! Didn't keep me from living my life though.
At my 3 and 4 month follow-ups I was at -1.0 and -1.5. Fine for some but I wasn't ready to go back to contacts so enhancement here I come!
Yesterday was my enhancement surgery and from the moment I sat up I knew this was it! This was that crazy crispy vision everyone always talks about! My post-op this morning confirmed it. I'm 20/15 in the right and 20/10 in the left. Oh sure, it's only the first day and things could change, but they didn't after my first surgery so they probably won't after this one either. And since she re-lifted the original flap, my eyes feel absolutely normal. None of that something's-stabbing-me-through-the-eyeball discomfort of the suction ring.
Sorry to ramble on so, but I've been a frequent visitor to this board over the last few months and I've been hard pressed to read one positive experience. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who's felt that way either. So there you go, it does take patience and it can be amazing. It also helps to have an outstanding surgeon with a top-notch staff who go out of their way to make you feel you're their only patient and that no question is ever too silly and no concern is ever taken lightly.
Good luck!

Hi - I recently unwent lasik and I can say I am very happy I did it and the experiece wasn't unpleasant in the least. I did not experience any pain during the procedure and the day after was able to wake up with 20/20 and 20/15 vision. I am hoping that I can maintain this level of vision as it's amazing and I can't believe how nice the world is looking to me these days. Glad to hear your surgery went well, good for you.

People who have successful Lasik surgery are not likely to spend a lot of time at Lasik related forums. They got what they expected and wanted, and are not doing other things.
People with problems are looking for answers to those problems. These forums can be a great place to get some answers, but of course a comprehensive exam from a competent doctor is what is required.

I'm glad you are happy and hope that you can stay that way. I'm happier since enhancement has taken away the "poke in the eye" feeling in my left eye. My right eye that sees the best still hurts every day but it did not need enhancement. While my vision finaly is better after 10 months, I don't feel that I have near the clarity or depth perception that I had with clean glasses and night vision still sucks. The moon still looks like a raining seashell and light haloes are still bad.
I could not recommend Intralase to others. It just isn't worth it and I feel that it did permanent damage.
