"Distance Vision & Pupil Size & Lubrication"
Posted by Kevin - Denville, NJ on 18:59:41 6/16/2006

Hello
I had Lasik eye surgery on my right eye in 2003 to correct acute farsightedness. Three years later I am able to see quite a bit better up close but my distance vision has decreased to an extent. My distance vision varies in that sometimes I can see quite distant objects quite well. Other times I experience some out of focus issues. Is this the tradeoff I made with Lasik-being able to see better up close but losing some distance vision? In my opinion, I had better distance vision clarity prior to Lasik. Had I known this was going to be the case, I would have never had Lasik performed.

The other issue I'm concerned about is a disparity in pupil size. Prior to Lasik, I noticed no difference between the left and right pupil size. Approximately two years after Lasik, I've noticed a disparity in size between the Lasiked(right)eye that seems to appear mostly in business (florescent)lighting environments and dark or dim lighting. In this situation, the pupil of the right eye looks larger and scary as compared to the un-Lasiked left eye. By scary, I mean it looks mad-almost inflammed. That's the only way that I can describe it. It lasts for a just a short time then is back to normal. I never noticed anything like this until after having Lasik performed. The surgeon who performed the surgery seems to think everything is normal and sees no problem. He dismissed it as being my imagination. Well, I think that I'm a much better judge of my eyes than he is considering I was born with these eyes and because of that fact, I'm more able to see abnormalities between my pupils than he can.

Lastly, it seems that by comparing my left and right eyes, that the right (Lasiked) eye has a glassy look to it much of the time. I attribute this to the fact that Lasik surgery disrupts the intricate lubrication of the cornea because of the nerves being severed and the addition of the flap area which introduces a ridge which in turn affects the normal flow of corneal lubrication.

Knowing what I now know about Lasik, I sure as hell would never have had it done, ever. I think Lasik surgery is the most dangerous thing that an individual can have done to his or her eyes. I would never recommend that anyone ever have it done. Even though I made out quite well with my Lasik procedure, I would have opted for natural vision enhancement instead of Lasik, had I known more about the dangers of Lasik beforehand.

I happend upon a natural herbal eye treatment that I've found to be quite affective. This natural product has helped to enhance my vision more than anything else that I've tried-post Lasik: https://www.herbdoc.com (doctor Schultze ring a bell?)

Look for a herbal treatment called "Bright Eyes". The ingredients in this product help to improve visual clariry and ocular blood flow. This is a wonderful product that I wouldn't be without. I might also mention that this topical herbal formula treatment not only soothes my eyes aiding to my visual clarity, in addition it helps reduce the issue of the right eye appearing glassy. For me, this has proven far superior to ANY doctor prescribed topical treatment I've ever used. This is no witch-doctor formula, this is the real thing. All I can say is that it works for me.
