I had Lasik a month ago. My right was perfect. My left has been hazy since. The doctor says it is very dry, even with a rubber plug. There are about 30 dry spots in the center of the eye. What is causing this? I am now on Restatis for 30 days. Is this the best solution? Will the left eye eventually be 20/20 like my right eye? What is the usual length of time to get rid of dry eye after Lasik?
Thanks.

We have a detailed article about Lasik induced temporary dry eye at
http://www.complicatedeyes.org/dry_eye_treatment.htm that I'm sure you'll find helpful.

Punctual plugs are obviously not relieving the problem enough. In the article cited above you will find that having healthy tears is a balance with different resolutions for different problems. Hopefully the article will provide insight into your circumstances so you will have a greater understanding of the problemw when next you meet your doctor.

Lasik induced temporary dry eyes is a common and known problem that usually resolves within the normal six-month healing.

Restasis does not reach full ineffectiveness until about three months after starting its use. You may gain some benefit before that time. Restasis is the only medication approved to treat the underlying cause of dry eye.
