I'd like to know how significant is the axis correction in Lasik procedure. I have minor astigmatism (O.D. -4.75 -0.25x20, O.S.-4.75 -0.50X170) with different measurements for axis, range from OD 12 to 20, OS 153 to 180 in different reflections. I'm concerned about the reflection changes, especially the axis. Considering the other reflection I had within six months, OD-4.50-0.50X14, OS -4.50-0.75X153, Will there be significant differences if I go with either prescription to have my Lasik done? Thank you for your advice.

In general - astigmatism of just 0.25 does not mean much with LASIK. This is because this level of astigmatism is very low and can not be accurately reduced to 0. In general - the last can take someone with 1-5 diopters of astigmatism and dramatically reduce the astigmatism. But knocking out the final 0.25 is very difficult - so that many patients end up with 0.25 to 0.50 of astigmatism. In general - this small level of astigmatism does not affect one's vision to a signficant amount.

I hope I explained this well.

Best of luck
