I just found out my 5 year old daughter needs glasses.I am so afraid her glasses are going to make her eyes look really BIG.My husband is Active Duty Air Force and we are currently stationed in Belgium.We have a clinic available to us here for small problems and the local hospital,I'm sure if needed I could get a referal to a larger eye clinic in Germany.Her prescription reads...+5.50-.50x175 and +4.50-.50x170 All this is very new to me,I had NO idea she had trouble seeing.Should I get a second opinion?What is her future going to be?Will she be able to have surgery one day?Her glasses are going to take 3 weeks to arrive.Any information you could give me would be great.She has the most beautiful blue eyes.What can I expect for her as she gets older?Could this get better? Thank goodness someone discovered her problem.
Yes the glasses will make her eyes look big. So
what. She will be able to see much better and her
brain will develope her vision better so that
later she will have all her options open. Who
discovered her problem? If it was one of the
military docs, cudos to him/her. She will not be
a candidate for surgery for many years. As she
gets older she will be able to wear contacts until
refractive surgery is an option. Congrats on
being a caring parent.
