My eyeglass prescription is +7 -7.75 x180 and +7 -6.75 x180. Can that level of farsighteness/astigmatism be corrected by LASIK surgery? I don't think the FDA has approved any laser with those limits, but are physicians performing that surgery anyway. I was evaluated by a physician who said she would do it and I'm wondering if it would be prudent.

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Your level of far-sightedness is above what can be safely treated with LASIK, LASEK, PRK, or Epi-LASIK. However, clear lens extraction is a possibility.
You may want to contact Helen Wu or Michael Goldstein, who are 2 well-known refractive surgeons in Boston, to determine whether this is a viable option for you.

Best of luck
