Hello Doctors, My daughter is 19 and her prescription is OD -2.25-1.25x140
and OS -2.25 sph; she plays tennis and has a hard time getting a toric lens to give her clear vision for playing; is she a good candidate for laser correction and which type? Should she get it in a clinic in Cincinnati or Atlanta where we live, she is going to UC. Her vision is stable but I am concerned about the astigmatism....can it be corrected with new techiques?

Pam

If all other factors are normal, then your daughter may be a candidate for LASIK, IntraLASIK, PRK, LASEK, or Epi-LASIK. The refractive error is well within the range of correction for nearly all lasers.

You will also want to read http://www.usaeyes.org/faq/subjects/wavefront_custom_lasik.htm and visit http://www.usaeyes.org/surgeons/states/lasik_georgia.htm

Your daughter's Rx is manageable by any of the current lasers and techniques. The most important issue now is her age and stability of her refraction. This must be reviewed by whomever she sees for surgery.
