I has lasik done 5/7. I had flap striae and had the flap lifted on 5/17. My vision has improved, I am no longer living in a fog, but now I have another question regarding my vision. I saw my doctor yesterday and he said the reason my vision is still blurry is because I have irregular astimatism. My pupil evidently was big and they had to do an ablation(?) of 8mm and he said this sometimes causes astimatism and that it will go away with time. My question is how long should I expect this to take and has anybody else had this same situation and see it get better. I got a prescription for glasses from him and they do help when I am reading or needing to see detail. I'm just wanting to know how long I should be patient.
Thanks,
Christie
I am glad to hear that your flap lift was helpful. Please feel free to make comments for patients who report having flap wrinkles on our site, because it helps patient understand their options.
I am glad also to hear that glasses help. When irregular astigmatism is serious, glasses will not help much. SO hopefully your astigmatism is only mild and will improve with time. A corneal topography test is used to follow the amount of astigmatism, and hopefully repeat tests will show that the astigmatism is reducing.
I hope this helps
Best of luck
