I had lasik 4 years ago. The surgery left me with pretty good acuity but terrible quality. I have lasik induced double vision in both eyes. The double vision is much worse in the right eye. I have not let anyone try and fix my double vision because none of the doctors I have seen (until recently) have had a clue how I would have monocular diplopia in both eyes. My current physician using wavefront scans to collect information thinks that there was probably condensation on the laser that interfered with the surgery. He has suggested using custom ablation to fix the problem. My questions are
1. Can custom ablation fix a problem like this with a decent chance of success?
2. Does it make sense that condensation on the laser could have caused my double vision? (several doctors have looked at the flap/skin and said it looks really good.)
3. With respect to additional surgery, why should I believe that there won't be condensation on the laser in the next surgery?

Great questions.
Monocular diplopia is related to irregular astigmatism following LASIK. There are many causes - I am not sure how "condensation" was picked as a cause.
Results with current technology are exciting, but treating irregular astigmatism with monocular diplopia is very challenging.

Keep researching and be patient.

Best of luck
