Ectasia can occur years later. Hopefully this will not be an issue for you. Down the road, if you need contacts, your contact lens specialist will fit you with contact lenses. The brand will depend on the shape of your eye, etc.

If your cornea was a normal shape preop (on topography) and your residual bed is 280 microns, then the risk of ectasia is extremely low. No one can ever say never, but it is not something that one would worry about. There is nothing that can be done to reduce the risk when the risk is already extremely low.
Again - to know if you are at low risk - ask your doctor if your preop topos were normal.

Best of luck

Well developed ectasia has been (very rarely) diagnosed as long as four years after LASIK. Therefore, if your cornea appears normal on topography after four years, you are virtually home free with respect to ectasia risk based on current knowledge. Also, as Dr. Trattler said, with a normal pre-op topography and a post-op residual stromal bed of 280 um, your risk of developing ectasia is vanishingly small; therefore, it is not something to worry about or obsess over. As to IOP, significantly lowering IOP has been shown to reverse early ectasia in some patients. So, it is likely an elevated IOP could be a factor in the development of ectasia in some borderline cases.
