I had lasik summer 1999. The left eye flap crinkled and the doctor stopped the proceedure and said we would have to wait 4 months. About one month latter I woke up at night with pain and a smear that looks like vaseline in my field of vision. It has not gotten better and did not change after the doctor redid my left eye. My vision is great except for this vaseline smear that floats in my vision. I have floaters but know the difference between a floater and a smear. They also move in different directions when I jerk my eye quickly.
No help from the doctor.

Has your doctor performed a complete exam to determine the cause of your blurry vision. Is your corneal topography normal?
Dr. Ofner mentioned a floater, which is an opaque portion of the gel in the back of the eye that seems to float. When you move your eye in one direction, the floater will tend to drift across one's field of vision. If this is the case, your doctor should perform a complete retinal evaluation.
Of course, if you have the spot of blurry vision that is always present and in the same position, your eye doctor should continue to search for the cause. If it is related to LASIK, it could be caused by a central island or irregular astigmatism.
I hope this helps
