"bulge after lasix"

I had lasix surgery Jan, 1999. At my 1 month checkup, everything was fine I was seeing approx 20/25. I went back to my doctor in July, 1999 with vision problems and at that point I had developed astigmatism due to a bulge below the area where I had my lasix procedure done. Since then, my cornea hasn't changed, and my vision has pretty much stabalized to (4/11/200):

Sphere Cyl Axis
Right -2.00 +3.25 175
Left -2.75 +4.74 02

When I went in in July, my doctor told me that he would do an enhancement once my eyes stabalized. Since then, I've been going in for checkups every 3-4 months. But today, he informed me that he didn't know if he could do a enhancement because he was concerned that my cornea was too thin due to the bulge that formed. And the best solution might be to wear contacts.

Any suggestions? The wierd thing is that both eyes have the same bulge.

bulging of the cornea- called ectasia- results when the cornea is too thin, or when there is an underlying condition that causes the cornea to grow in that way. we call this keratocouns, because the cornea grows in a cone shape. of course i'm not looking at your eyes and topographies, but this seems to be the two obvious choices.

when the cornea is mishaped is this way, the only correction options are hard contact lenses and corneal transplants (remove the funny shaped cornea and replace with a normal one). your choice will depend on how impaired your vision is right now. you may be able to get by with only a pair of glasses- and even enjoy uncorrected vision for some activities.

good luck

I've been doing some research and it seems that Intacs have been used successfully to treat complications due to Lasik.

Here's the article I'm referring to:
