I had lasik done a month ago. I noticed it was not good immediately after the surgery. It has gotten increasingly worse. I was near sighted with slight astigmatism before the surgery. I don't have the exact prescription with me now but I was 20/80, left eye, and 20/200, right eye. Currently everything I look at is a blur, distance and close up vision. I have NEVER had any problems with close up vision (I am 45 years old.) I can't drive comfortably, night or day, and it's difficult to read without squinting (I teach, so this very distressing) so I had my surgeon's associate (didn't even get to see the actual surgeon post-op) prescribe some glasses for me so I can at least be functional while I wait this all out. When I got my glasses the technician said that my prescription was mostly to correct astigmatism, of which I now have a lot:
-.50+1.50X900, -2.25+2.75X176. I am totally ignorant of this reading so maybe someone can help explain. Did surgery make my astigmatism worse or was it never corrected? I know you can't say without my presurgery prescription but I am going to see the actual surgeon on Tuesday and I'd like to have some knowledge beforehand. With the current glasses I am wearing, I can see just fine. Does that mean my astigmatism is regular? If so, will enhancement correct this condition or could it get worse? I'm trying to be optimistic but I feel I was misled by my surgeon who said I was a good Lasik candidate and everything would turn out great. I know this is long winded. Sorry, but someone please help and advise.

I have no idea what your vision was like prior to surgery, so I can't comment on your success, etc. You obviously have residual refractive error, which can be potentially fixed with an enhancement. You need to wait for your eye to stabalize prior to having your enhancement.

I hope your surgeon explained to you that we can not guarantee 20/20 vision (even if you are a good candidate). Everyone's eye heals differently. Hopefully the LASIK procedure moved you in the right direction,a nd you can later consider having an enhancement

Best of luck
